According to a document from the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council, a major upgrade is planned for a prominent tower in the Financial District.
Dallas-based real estate firm Lincoln Property Company intends to add new restaurant space and outdoor seating to the Wedbush Center, a 22-story office building at 1000 W. Wilshire Boulevard. The project would require the demolition of an existing cafe counter and associated features on the building's ground floor. In their place, LPC would construct a new restaurant with a landscaped patio area overlooking 7th Street.
The postmodern Wedbush Center, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, is a well-known landmark for commuter along the Harbor Freeway. The upgrade to the building's first floor is being designed by the Los Angeles-based firm Large Architecture.
The new restaurant space follows a recent spate of upgrades for properties in the Financial District, including makeovers of the Bloc and FIGat7th shopping centers, as well as the $1.2-billion redevelopment of the Wilshire Grand.
