Just south of Wilshire/Vermont Station, a 38-story apartment tower now taking shape at 7th Street and New Hampshire Avenue will soon rank among the tallest structures in Koreatown. A block west, an infill development of a more modest sort is also taking shape.

The project, which replaced an early 1940s Normandie-style building located at 707 S. Berendo Street, is comprised of a six-story edifice that will feature 21 apartments atop a subterranean parking garage at completion.

Labyrinth Design Studio is designing the project, which is depicted in renderings as a contemporary podium-type building clad in a combination of stucco and wood panels, with rail balconies lining the perimeter.

City records indicate that Ark Construction & Development is the project's general contractor.

Besides the towering mixed-use project now rising to the east, other new developments taking shape in the near vicinity include a residential-retail complex from Jamison Services, Inc. now under construction a block west on Catalina Street.
