The project, which replaced an auto repair shop at 843-849 N. La Brea Avenue, calls for the construction of five-story building that would feature 50 apartments above at-grade parking for five vehicles.

According to a 2020 application for tax credit financing, the project will include 49 income-restricted units, all reserved for formerly homeless persons earning no more than 30 percent of the area median income. At the time, the apartments were expected to rent for $592 per month.

FSY Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which will also include a community room, a courtyard, and a rooftop deck.

The total estimated cost of the project, at $32.3 million, amounts to a per-unit price tag of $647,000.

EAH Housing, which previously developed a permanent supportive housing complex in South Los Angeles, is also behind new affordable housing developments at three different sites in Santa Monica, as well as a new project in West Hollywood.
