A former redevelopment agency asset in the City of Compton will yield new for-sale housing, under plans approved earlier this month.
The property, a roughly 2.55-acre site located at 250 N. Central Avenue, is slated for the construction of a series of multi-story structures containing 57 townhome-style condominiums, as well as a 5,000-square-foot central recreation space. Plans call for a mix of two- and three-bedroom dwellings, ranging from 1,193 to 1,644 square feet in size.
The design of the project is described as being of a "Monterey/Spanish style," with exposed wood truss details, gable-end faces, and facades of stucco. The three-story buildings would rise roughly 37 feet in height.
Construction is expected to occur over a roughly 13-month period.
Olson Homes, the Seal Beach-based developer behind the project, will be required to set aside 10 of the new townhomes for purchase at rates deemed affordable to qualified low-income households. Olson has previously developed income-restricted for-sale units in the unincorporated community of Willowbrook.
