Prefabricated modular units are now being hoisted into place at the site of Hope on Broadway, a new permanent supportive housing complex in South Los Angeles.
The project, a joint venture between HBG Construction Corp. and Aedis Real Estate Group, replaced a mortuary at the northeast corner of 52nd Street and Broadway with a new building featuring 49 studio and one-bedroom apartments and supportive services.
KTGY Architecture + Planning is designing Hope on Broadway, which will have an exterior of metal and amenities such as a courtyard and a rooftop deck.
The approximately $22.2-million development is expected to offer rents ranging from $768 to $913 per month, according to a 2020 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.
Hope on Broadway is one of three under construction developments from Hope Street Development Group, joining projects now rising in Hyde Park and Willowbrook. HBG and Aedis have already completed one project in Westlake: Hope on Alvarado.
