ULI Los Angeles, in partnership with VerdeXchange, announces FutureBuild 2017. This event features the leading change makers of the built environment, transforming the realms of sustainability, resiliency and creative disruption. It takes place January 31, 2017, 7:30 am to 1:30 pm, at L.A. Downtown Hotel, 333 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071
The FutureBuild sessions at VerdeXchange include a focus on overwhelming investment in the built environment, amounting to at least $135 billion in Los Angeles economic activity in the coming decades. This investment will result from: 2014 Olympic plans, new transportation, sports and entertainment venues, parks and museums, urban resiliency, climate adaptation and other transformative projects.
“Los Angeles is on the precipice of significant transformation, particularly in the area of infrastructure development,” said Kelli Bernard, AECOM Chief Executive for the LA Metro region. “Measure M, Measure CC, LAX modernization and development of the new Inglewood/Hollywood Park alone represent more than $135B in infrastructure investment to expand public transportation, help our city respond to natural disasters, reimagine LAX as the welcoming gateway to our city, and position LA to once again host the world during the 2024 Olympic Games.”
“The vast investment in Los Angeles demonstrates how cities such as ours are managing their own futures,” said ULI Los Angeles Executive Director Gail Goldberg. “The 2024 Olympics planning, for example, arrives with massive housing and transportation growth, whether or not Los Angeles ultimately hosts the games. It is especially thrilling this year to join with VerdeXchange, the world-leading conference on sustainable technologies, to gather so many influential private- and public-sector leaders.”
