McCormick Construction has announced the completion of Nickelodeon's expanded studios in Burbank.

The 200,000-square-foot campus, located on Olive Street west of the Golden State Freeway, is highlighted by a five-story animation building, a redesigned courtyard, a renovated studio and a 450-car garage.  More than 700 Nickelodeon employees and 20 active show productions call the facility home.

The expanded campus, which is targeting LEED Gold certification, incorporates sustainable design features such as energy efficient LED fixtures, natural lighting and recycled building materials.

STUDIOS Architecture served as design architect for the new animation building, which is clad with a mixture of white cement, glass-fiber reinforced concrete and glass.  A mesh system wraps the building, allowing animation to be displayed on its exterior.

Other participants on the project include DLR Group, Environmental Contracting Corporation, Brightworks Sustainability and Accord Interests, LLC.
