The surge in construction that has enveloped several properties along Wilshire Boulevard through Koreatown has spread north.
Yesterday, plans were filed with the City of Los Angeles to construct a 16-story mixed-use tower at 3800 W. 6th Street. The property, which spans approximately .85 acres between Hobart Boulevard and Serrano Avenue, would contain hotel operations on its 2nd through 7th floors and condominiums from its 8th through 16th floors. An exact number of guest rooms and residential units has not been revealed.
The applicant has also requested a conditional use permit for to serve alcoholic beverages on the premise.
Ownership records link the property to 3800 West Sixth Street, LLC, which is helmed by Leo Lee.
Though Koreatown's tallest buildings mostly line Wilshire Boulevard, there is some evidence of towers spreading off the iconic street.
One block east at 6th Street and Harvard Boulevard, upstart developer Urban Commons recently filed plans for a similar 10-story hotel and residential complex.
South along 7th Street, Harridge Development Group is planning a 35-story tower as part of a large mixed-use project.
