In Pico-Union, West Hollywood Community Housing Corp. (WHCHC) has completed construction of Berendo Sage, a new permanent supportive housing complex which stands just south of Olympic Boulevard.
The Measure HHH-funded development, located at 1035 S. Berendo Street, consists of a six-story building featuring 42 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. That total includes a mix of permanent supportive housing and general income-restricted apartments.

According to a staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the apartments are earmarked for households earning at or below 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level.
Urban Architecture Lab designed Berendo Sage, which includes an exterior staircase and a series of inset balconies. Additionally, the apartment complex is capped by a rooftop community room, and also includes a laundry facility and offices for on-site service providers.

WHCHC is also in the midst of construction on Mariposa Lily, a similar supportive housing development located five blocks west.
Although located in West Hollywood, WHCHC has shown an affinity for building new housing in the Pico-Union community, having previously completed the Westmore Linden and Elden Elms complexes on Pico Boulevard. Those buildings were also designed by Urban Architecture Lab.
