Just south of the WSS Shoes location at 32nd Street and South Central Avenue, construction is in full swing for a new affordable housing complex.
The project, located on the former site of a commercial building at 3217 S. Central Avenue, is described in permits approved last year by the Department of Building and Safety as a three-story building which will feature 35 units of low-income affordable housing.
As a fully affordable housing development, the project was also eligible for Tier 2 Transit Oriented Communities development incentives - permitting a larger structure than zoning rules would otherwise allow.
Los Angeles County Assessor's records list the property owner as the Lomita-based entity Roya 26 Investments, LLC, which acquired the lot in 2019 for just under $900,000.
The affordable housing complex is one of a handful now taking shape along the Central Avenue corridor, including a new project from Highridge Costa which recently began work a few blocks to the north.
