In Whittier, a pair of small commercial and residential buildings could make way for a new senior housing complex, according to a recently-published environmental report.
The Golden Oaks Senior Citizen Housing Project, proposed by project sponsor Golden Oaks Senior Living Limited Partnership, calls for the construction of a new two-story complex featuring 25 age-restricted apartments accompanied by on-site parking for 19 vehicles.
Pickard Architects is designing the apartment complex, which is shown in renderings as Spanish-style building with a smooth stucco exterior and an O-shaped footprint. An open-air courtyard sits at the center of the site, with parking accessed via a side alley.
Per the project's initial study, construction is expected to commence as early as October 2023 and conclude by March 2024.
Eight existing apartments would be demolished for the new development - a less than significant impact, per the study.
