More than one year after our last update, construction is in the home stretch for an Art Deco-inspired affordable housing complex from non-profit developer West Hollywood Community Housing Corp. in Pico-Union.
The Mariposa Lily apartments, located at 1047-1055 S. Mariposa Avenue, consists of a seven-story structure which will feature 41 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments - half of which are to be reserved for formerly unhoused residents - above parking for eight vehicles.
HED is designing the podium-type building, which has an exterior of painted plaster and aluminum panels. In addition to housing, the project will include amenities such as a fitness center and an outdoor deck.
As of a June 2020 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the project was expected to cost more than $25 million and offer apartments for families and senior households earning at or below 30 and 60 percent of the area median income level.
Completion of Mariposa Lily is now on track to occur in 2023, according to the West Hollywood Community Housing website.
West Hollywood Community Housing has developed a handful of similar projects in Central Los Angeles, and recently completed work on Berendo Sage, a similar affordable and supportive housing complex located five blocks east.
