A former nursery in Del Rey is to be redeveloped as a residential-retail complex, per filings with the City of Los Angeles.
In 2015, Sam Yadegar of BJD Tarzana, LLC submitted an application to construct a podium-type building on the now vacant lot at the corner of Culver Boulevard and Dawes Avenue. Plans called for five-story structure, featuring 47 rental units above 1,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and 62 cars in an partially underground garage.
The project was eventually approved with density bonus incentives in exchange for setting aside four residential units for very low income households.
An architectural rendering filed with the Department of City Planning portrays a contemporary building, with upper levels forming a U-shape around a podium-level courtyard.
Protective fencing now encircles the property, and the applicant has pulled permits to begin site preparation.
