Environmental documents published by the Los Angeles Planning Department offer a first glimpse of the Adams and Grand Project, developer CityView's proposed mixed-use complex in Historic South Central.
Named for its location at the corner of Adams Boulevard and Grand Avenue, the project would consist of a seven-story building featuring 296 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments - including 25 very low income units - above 5,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. A series of small commercial buildings would need to be demolished for the proposed development.
Humphreys & Partners Architects is designing the podium-type building, which is portrayed as a colorful mid-rise edifice with alternating patches of red, white, grey and blue. The residential units would wrap around landscaped interior courtyards, as well as other amenities such as a swimming pool and a club room.
Parking for up to 343 vehicles would be provided in a partially subterranean garage.
The project is one of a handful of new mixed-use developments reshaping the blocks surrounding the Expo Line's LATTC/Ortho Institute Station, including the Lorenzo and a proposed tower complex fronting Figueroa Street.
