Cushman & Wakefield has announced that it will relocate its Downtown Los Angeles offices to the Wilshire Grand Center, making it the second major tenant in the $1.2-billion tower complex.
The real estate services firm - which is also handling the leasing for office space in the project - expects to move its 200 employees into the 24th and 25th floors of the Wilshire Grand by October 2017. The new location will offer a two-story atrium, interconnecting stairs, a large cafe and sweeping views of the Los Angeles basin. Aref & Associates is designing the space.
In an e-mailed statement, Regional Managing Principal Andrew McDonald cited a growing workforce as the motivating factor behind the move, noting that Cushman & Wakefield's Los Angeles office grew by 30 percent in 2016, and is on a similar pace thus far in 2017.
This announcement comes less than one week after the L.A. Business Journal reported that the Southern California Association of Governments is also set for a move to the Wilshire Grand - taking two floors, or approximately 44,000 square feet.
The combined total of the two leases amounts nearly 80,000 square feet, or just under one quarter of the total 353,000 square feet of office space within the tower. Korean Air is also expected to occupy one floor.
Besides office space, the 73-story Wilshire Grand will also include a 900-room InterContinental Hotel, an open rooftop deck, and 45,000 square feet of shops and restaurants. An opening date is anticipated in June 2017.
The 1,100-foot tall building - by some measures the tallest in Los Angeles - was developed by Hanjin International Corp. and designed by local architecture firm A.C. Martin.
