Architecture firm MVE + Partners has announced the ground opening of Movietown Square, the senior affordable component of the Avalon West Hollywood development.
Located at 7300 Santa Monica Boulevard, the mixed-use complex from AvalonBay Communities consists of multiple five- and six-story buildings featuring 294 residential units above 17,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The Movietown component, developed by West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, offers 77 residential units, set aside for persons 62 years or older making between 30 and 60 percent of the Los Angeles County median income.
The project notably hosts a Trader Joe's market, a holdover from the shopping center that previously stood on the property.
An official opening ceremony is planned for May 3.
