An initial study published by the Los Angeles Planning Department offers a first look at the La Cienega Apartments Project, a proposed multifamily residential complex in the Carthay neighborhood.
Slated for a 35,000-square-foot property at 1056-1066 La Cienega Boulevard, the project would a replace parking lot and a small commercial building with a seven-story edifice featuring 90 dwelling units above two levels of underground parking. The proposed development would require density bonus, which are requested in exchange for setting aside 8 units as very low income housing.
Santa Monica-based KFA is designing the podium-type building in the Spanish Colonial style with nearly 10,000 square feet of open space on the site. Proposed amenities include a gym, a courtyard, a swimming pool and multiple roof decks.
The project is being developed by the Amoroso Companies, a family-owned real estate investment firm based out of Calabasas. The Amorosos are also building a similar mixed-use development near an Expo Line station in West Los Angeles.
Construction of the La Cienega project is expected to occur over 20 months, starting in the second quarter of 2018 and finishing by the first quarter of 2020.
