Five months after our last update, wood framing has reached its peak at Heritage Square South, a $28-million permanent supportive housing complex from Bridge Housing Corp.

Located on a corner lot at 710 N. Fair Oaks Avenue in Pasadena, the project will consist of low-rise building featuring a total of 68 one- and two-bedroom dwellings reserved for formerly unhoused seniors and one manager's apartment. Plans also call for 2,200 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, fronting the intersection of Fair Oaks and Orange Grove Avenue.

KTGY is designing the apartment complex, which will consist of three-story structures linked by pedestrian bridges. The buildings are arranged in a U shape, surrounding open space which will be used as a central courtyard. Plans also call for a community room and other amenity spaces.

At the time of the project's groundbreaking in mid-2022, general contractor R.D. Olson Construction estimated that completion of Heritage Square South would occur in September 2023.

Heritage Square South is named for the adjoining Heritage Square apartments, which were also built by Bridge Housing. Other projects from Bridge include the Jordan Downs redevelopment in Watts and a new affordable housing complex now rising in Long Beach.
