Nearly four years after we announced plans for a mixed-use tower at the corner of 8th and Olive Streets, developer Carmel Partners has officially opened Atelier DTLA. Take a quick trip through the newest addition to the Los Angeles skyline with architectural photographer Hunter Kerhart.
The 33-story tower, designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz Architecture, is highlighted by 363 apartments atop 10,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The building also features numerous amenities, including a swimming pool, a fitness center, a rooftop deck and an on-site parking garage.
The building's interiors were designed by Rodrigo Vargas Design.
Carmel Partners, based out of San Francisco, has been one of the most ambitious investors in Downtown Los Angeles in recent years. The company is also behind the seven-story Eighth & Grand complex across the street, which includes 700 apartments above a Whole Foods Market. In the Arts District, the developer has proposed an ambitious 13-story live/work building.
Atelier will soon be followed by 820 Olive Street, a 49-story tower from Onni Group, and potentially a 29-story building on an nearby parking lot.
