Atlanta-based developer Wood Partners has unwrapped the 5550, a new residential-retail complex near the Hollywood/Western Metro station.
Named for its location at 5550 Hollywood Boulevard, the $100-million project consists of a six-story building featuring 280 apartments and roughly 12,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
Los Angeles-based Urban Architecture Lab designed the podium-type complex, which is clad with a combination of brick veneer and plaster. The new construction also incorporates the facade of Falcon Studios, a two-story brick structure built in the 1920s. The roof level of the historic building will provide amenity space for future residents.
The mixed-use complex represents a migration of Hollywood's development boom east across the 101 freeway, joining similar projects on Hollywood Boulevard and Western Avenue.
