A corner lot at the intersection of Orange Avenue and San Antonio Drive in Bixby Knolls is set for redevelopment with housing, according to an initial study published by the City of Long Beach.
The proposed project at 4501 Orange Avenue - which would require the demolition of two commercial building, surface parking, and leased open space - calls for the construction of six new buildings containing 32 townhomes with attached garages. Plans call for three-bedroom dwellings, each with two parking spaces at street level.
Summa Architecture is designing the project, which would include six contemporary buildings, all standing three stories in height. In addition to housing, plans call for new landscaping, eight guest parking spots, a children's play area, a common fireplace, and other amenities.
Property records list the owner of the site as the Palos Verdes Estates-based entity 4501 Orange, LP.
Construction of the townhomes will require approval of a zone change by the City of Long Beach.
