The Cities of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach have published a draft environmental impact report which details plans for a major expansion of the Skechers headquarters on Sepulveda Boulevard.
Local architect David Forbes Hibbert is designing the proposed development, which calls for the construction of a trio of low-rise buildings that would hold over 650 employees for the footwear and apparel company.
The largest component of the project, slated for a 1.44-acre site at 2851-3125 Sepulveda Boulevard, would consist of a three-story structure featuring a 100,000-square-foot design center with showrooms and shoe libraries. Plans also call for 20,000 square feet of office space, as well as undergorund parking for 609 vehicles.
A short distance north at 305 Sepulveda, plans call for the construction of a smaller two-story building featuring approximately 37,000 square feet of office space above underground parking for 199 vehicles.
The third building, located across the street at 330 Sepulveda, would be an two-story, 20,000-square-foot expansion of existing Skechers office. The new structure would also come with 127 underground parking spaces.
Construction of the design center and office space is expect to occur over 24 months starting this fall and concluding in 2019.
