In unincorporated West Carson, completion nears for another for-sale housing development from KB Home.
The project, named Orchid, occupies an L-shaped property at the southeast corner of 223rd Street and Normandie Avenue. The site was approved in 2018 for the construction of 58 attached townhomes in a mix of four-bedroom floor plans, ranging from 1,600 to 1,700 square feet in size.
Each home includes its own patio, although the gated complex is also being built with shared amenities such as a community gathering area, a dog park and half basketball court.
At the time the completion of the project's first model units was announced in mid-2022, prices were starting in the $770,000s.
The project site was entitled for construction by Torrance-based Maupin Development, Inc., and required the approval of a general plan amendment and a conditional use permit by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
KB Home is also looking to build roughly 200 homes on the former site of the Starlite Drive-In theater in South El Monte, among several other projects in its hometown of Los Angeles.
