A pedestrian-friendly makeover by Landry Design Group is planned for a small retail center in Brentwood, according to renderings provided by an tipster.
The property, located near the northwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Granville Avenue, is improved with a U-shaped two-story structure which features nearly 40,000 square feet of commercial space wrapped around a surface parking lot.
Under plans filed with the City of Los Angeles, the building at 11819 Wilshire would be reclad with metallic panels and glass. The existing parking lot at the center of the property would be removed and replace with an outdoor plaza, overlooked by a pedestrian bridge linking the two wings of the property. Plans also call for adding free wifi within the central area.
The redesigned mall will target businesses that are "health- and lifestyle driven," changing over from the current mix of tenants. One holdover will be CorePower Yoga, which is reportedly the Denver-based chain's busiest location.
The property sits almost directly across the street from a proposed 34-story apartment tower Douglas Emmett, Inc.
