Hollywood's W Hotel, which occupies a visible location across the street from the Pantages Theatre and directly above the Hollywood/Vine subway station, is getting a refresh.
Host Hotels & Resorts, the Maryland-based owner of the 300,000-square-foot complex at 6250 W. Hollywood Boulevard, has received permits for a renovation of all of its existing 305 guest rooms with new finishes. Additionally, existing space within the hotel will be converted into 14 additional guest rooms, making for a total of 319 guest rooms at completion. The permit also indicates plans to renovate two suites at the second floor and remodel corridors on all floors.
Plans approved in 2022 by the Planning Department indicate that HKS, which designed the W Hotel, is also working on the renovation of the building.
The W Hotel, completed in 2010, heralded in a development boom on surrounding properties. Recent years have seen large surface parking lots on the eastern edge of the Walk of Fame make way for large apartment complexes such as Eastown, El Centro, and Camden Hollywood.
Even larger are set to follow in the coming years, including the multi-tower Hollywood Center development next door to the Capitol Records Building and the Palladium Residences on Sunset Boulevard.
