At the southeast corner of Main Street and 47th Place, wood framing is rising for a new affordable housing complex from local developer Eleos.
The project, which is rising from an L-shaped property at 4700 S. Main Street, will eventually consist of a four-story building featuring 53 apartments with a small parking lot. Plans exclusively call for one-bedroom dwelling.

Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives permitting increased height, a reduction to required on-site open space, and additional density beyond zoning limits. All of the apartments are to be reserved for low- and extremely low-income households, per an approval letter issued by the City of Los Angeles.
A rendering of the finished building depicts a contemporary wood-frame structure. Plans show a recreation room and a roof terrace within the development.

The site sits a few blocks south of the intersection of 45th and Main Streets, where developer EAH Housing is building a larger 63-unit supportive housing project.
Eleos, in addition to the new project on Main Street, is planning or building affordable housing at several locations in South Los Angeles and Boyle Heights.
