Construction is underway for a low-rise mixed-use building near the Arcadia Gold Line Station, based on images provide by photographer Michael Hayes.

The 57 Wheeler development, located at the corner of 1st Avenue and Wheeler Street, will consist of a four-story structure featuring 38 one- and two- bedroom apartments above 17,850 square feet of commercial space.  Plans also call for two levels of underground parking, serving residents, commercial tenants and surrounding businesses.

Plans also call for a 2,700-square-foot outdoor plaza along the side of the building, according to Arcadiaisbest.com.  The open space will separate the new construction from a neighboring one-story structure, which is currently occupied by 24 Hour Fitness.

The contemporary low-rise building will be located just one block south of Arcadia Station.
