The new home of USC women’s soccer and lacrosse is officially underway.
Earlier this month, the university broke ground on Rawlinson Stadium, which will expand upon Soni McAlister Field at 3000 S. Hoover Street, where both the soccer and lacrosse programs have played. The roughly $38-million facility will consist of a three-story structure with space for 2,500 fans - more than double the 1,000-spectator capacity of McAlister Field. In addition, plans call for a press box, a box office, concession stands, an entry plaza, an LED video screen, locker rooms for both the soccer and lacrosse teams, meeting rooms, and facilities for sports medicine.
Crawford is designing the stadium, per a landing page on the firm's website.
When the project was announced, in mid-2023, it was expected that construction would take roughly two years.
USC women’s soccer team has won two national championships and the women’s lacrosse team has been to five NCAA tournaments in the lifetime of Soni McAlister Field, which opened in 1998.
