Just north of 6th Street in Westlake, a multifamily residential building from Intergulf Development Group is starting to rise

Rebar pillars now peek above the ground-level at 495 S. Hartford Avenue, where the City of Los Angeles has approved the construction of a seven-story, 218-unit apartment complex. The housing will sit atop a two-level subterranean parking garage with space for more than 200 vehicles.

Project entitlements include  density bonus incentives, permitting a larger structure than allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, 36 of the new apartments are to be reserved as affordable housing.

City records indicate that IBI Group is designing 495 Hartford, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary low-rise building.

At the time the project began work in 2022, completion was expected in 2024.
