After one year of construction, wood framing is on the rise for a new affordable housing complex next to Bethel A.M.E. Church in Manchester Square.
The project from RMG Housing, which replaced a parking lot at 7924 S. Western Avenue, will consist of a five-story building featuring 53 residential units on its upper floors when completed.
According to a news release, the apartments will consist almost entirely of one-bedroom units, and will come with on-site supportive services for residents.
The project financed by multiple sources, including $11.3 million from SDS Capital Group's supportive housing fund.
At the time construction began, completion of 7924 Western was expected in the second half of 2024.
The project is a familiar strategy for RMG, which has a habit of building on church properties. RMG is also behind a proposed 47-unit supportive housing on the site of Southside Bethel Baptist Church at 10400 San Pedro Street.
