Longbeachize has unveiled new renderings for the Broadway Block development, a $195-million development in Downtown Long Beach that would remake a two-acre property adjacent to the Metro Blue Line.
The project - bounded by 3rd Street, Broadway and Long Beach Boulevard - would consist of 392 apartments with creative office space, artist galleries, restaurants and retail uses. Plans call for space to be set aside as a performing arts venue for Cal State Long Beach, and the reuse of the historic Acres of Books Building.
A 21-story tower highlights the project, rising at the corner of 3rd and Long Beach. The remainder of the development site would be wrapped with a podium-type building, with a pyramidal shape fronting Broadway.
The joint venture between Ratkovich Properties, the Owl Company and Urbana Development hopes to break ground in the 1st quarter of 2019.
