In Pasadena, construction has reached the top floor for a new AC Hotel by Marriott from developer Welcome Group, Inc.

The project, under construction since mid-2023 at 550 E. Colorado Boulevard, replaced a surface parking lot with a new podium-type building which will eventually feature 194 guest rooms above 5,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Plans also call for a rooftop bar.

While WATG served as the project's entitlement architect, AXIS Architecture is now serving as the hotel's architect of record. Renderings depict an exterior of stone, faux wood, and glass.

Completion of the AC Hotel is expected in 2025, per R.D. Olson, the project's general contractor.

The project will be the latest location for the AC Hotel brand in the Los Angeles area, following a 347-room establishment that opened as part of the Fig + Pico development near the Convention Center in Downtown. Welcome Group has previously developed a similar 180-key AC Hotel in its hometown of El Segundo.
