Public agencies and community organizations looking to convert sites into public green space could get a boost from a new program announced by Los Angeles County.
On July 8, the L.A. County Regional Park and Open Space District announced a $14.5-million competitive grant program, with all money to be used for the acquisition of new land for public parks. The program, which is funded by Measure A, is open for applications from non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, public agencies, and other eligible entities.
“Like never before, Measure A is providing high and very-high-park-need communities a series of funding opportunities so that one day all children and families growing up, living, and aging in Los Angeles County can experience parks, the outdoors, recreation, and nature in their own communities,” said L.A. County Department of Parks and Recreation director Norma E. García-González in an announcement for the program.
A virtual workshop on the program's eligibility requirements and evaluation criteria is scheduled for July 18, 2024, at 2 p.m. Additional information can be found here: https://rposd.lacounty.gov.
