A mostly-vacant site on one of the country's most famous roads could be redeveloped with housing, according to a new environmental report published by the City of Glendora.

Irvine-based developer Brandywine Homes is seeking approvals to redevelop a property at 723-731 E. Route 66. Plans call for clearing all existing improvements from the site - once a car dealership and auto service facility - to allow for the construction of six buildings containing 39 townhomes. Plans call for a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings ranging from 743 to 1,942 square feet in size.

The proposed three-story buildings are described as being "contemporary with Spanish Colonial design details," including tile roof, stucco siding, and other decorative features. Other features would include common walkways and courtyards, as well as private balconies and patios.

Pending approvals construction of the townhomes is expected to commence in early 2025 and be completed sometime in 2026.

The project site is located less than one mile east of the A Line's future Glendora Station, which is expected to debut as part of the ongoing Foothill extension in 2025.
