Wyndham Hotel Group has announced an expansion of its Trademark Hotel collection to a new development on the outskirts of Downtown Los Angeles.
The latest outpost, known as the Bricks, will be located in a 1960s office building at 1543 W. Olympic Boulevard in the Pico Union neighborhood. An entity known as Union & Grattan Properties, LLC is converting the six-story structure into 200 guest rooms with ground-floor retail space and other ancillary functions.
Renderings of the new hotel, which is being designed by Corbel Architects, show new LED ribbons adorning the building's mid-century exterior. A rooftop area will be activated with a new amenity deck.
A timeline for the project is unclear, although the developer is pursuing construction permits for the conversion.
The Trademark hotels are billed as a "soft-branded" collection of three-to-four star hotels that operate autonomously, but with support from New Jersey-based Wyndham.
