A draft environmental study published by the City of Burbank sheds light on plans to bring a dual-branded Marriott hotel to a site near Hollywood Burbank Airport.
The proposed project from AWH Partners, proposed at 2500 N. Hollywood Way, calls for the construction of a 262338-square-foot hotel building with a detached four-story garage. The new seven-story building would include a total of 420 guest rooms, split between a short-stay Aloft Hotel and a Residence Inn catering to long-term guests. Parking for 766 vehicles would be provided in a valet-only garage, with an additional 285 stalls to be provided at grade.
Architectural Dimensions is designing the proposed project, which is described as having a "contemporary" style and finishes including cement board siding, aluminum composite panels, cultured stone, and wood veneer. Plans show a building with an M-shaped footprint, with a port cochere located to the north facing Thornton Avenue and a courtyard with a water feature facing toward the south.
In addition to the hotel, plans call for upgrades to Thornton Avenue to the north, including the addition of a Class IV protected bikeway with a raised buffer, new landscaping, and a new sidewalk.
Pending approvals construction could begin as early as the fourth quarter of 2025 and conclude within approximately two years.
The development site is located on the same property as the Marriott Burbank Airport hotel, which is also owned by AWH Partners. Work on the dual-branded development could commence shortly before the debut of Hollywood Burbank's $1.3-billion replacement terminal, now under construction to the north.
