A pair of orange tower cranes now stand high above the intersection of Venice and National Boulevards, where Apple is now well into construction of its new L.A. office campus.
Located at 8888 Venice Boulevard on the Los Angeles - Culver City border, the project will consist of two buildings featuring a combined 536,000 square feet of offices and production space atop underground parking for 1,200 vehicles.
Gensler is designing the campus, which will include four- and five-story buildings with terrace decks lining the upper floors. Street-facing entrances and shuttle drop-off points are intended to activate the ground level, in lieu of commercial uses.
At the rear of the site facing Washington Boulevard, a small park-like alcove would occupy space next to a building already occupied by Apple at 8777 Washington Boulevard. A total of 58,000 square feet of open space is planned for the campus, including a large central courtyard, and new landscaped promenades along Venice and National.
Construction of the campus is occurring in two overlapping phases, with the building in Los Angeles city limits to be completed first, followed by the second structure in Culver City.
Apple, which recently announced plans to invest $500 billion in the United States in the next four years, has already made a start of it in Los Angeles. Between Apple TV+, Apple Music, and other ventures, Apple previously announced that it expects to grow its L.A. office to more than 3,000 employees by the year 2026.
The Apple campus is the latest tech and entertainment giant to set up shop near Culver City Station. Across the street, Warner Bros. Discovery leases 240,000 square feet of office space at the $350-million Ivy Station complex, and Amazon has occupies some 600,000 square feet of space between the Culver Studios complex and the neighboring Culver Steps development.
