At its meeting next week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will consider moving forward with plans to construct a meandering hiking trail around the John Anson Ford Theatres complex in the Hollywood Hills.
The project, which carries an estimated cost of $3.35 million, would consist of an approximately 4,500-foot-long trail, built to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Design elements would include an elevated boardwalk, a pre-fabricated pedestrian bridge, interpretive and wayfinding signage, bike racks and seating areas.
According to a report to the Board of Supervisors, there is currently $1.25 million in State and local funds available for the project. The Department of Parks and Recreation is still working to identify additional funding sources.
The proposed hiking trail follows last year's completion of a $66-million renovation to the Ford Theatres complex, which rehabilitated existing structures and added new concession and park facilities to the property.
