Long Beach City College is moving ahead with plans for an on-campus student housing complex, per a new environmental notice.

The proposed project, slated for the school's Liberal Arts Campus, would replace a parking lot at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Lew Davis Street. The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports that the proposed project will include beds for up to 442 students.

LBCC also has plans for additional housing at its campus in North Long Beach, near Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library. The approximately $32-million development would include 36 apartments for students.

LBCC's Liberal Arts Campus has seen several additions in recent years, including a $48-million expansion housing programs in the language arts and career technology disciplines.

Work is also proceeding for a new sports complex on the southern half of the Liberal Arts Campus, adjacent to the student housing site.
