The Los Angeles city Planning Commission has green-lit a proposal to clear away parking and a swimming pool to allow for the expansion of an existing apartment complex in Northridge.
The project from property owner Dan Hosseini, slated for a site at 18419 W. Gresham Street, calls for the new construction of a four-story building with 16 apartments and parking for five vehicles.
The new construction is being combined with 25 units built at 8803 N. Darby Avenue for a cumulative 41 apartments on the property. Planning Commission approval was required for density bonus incentives to authorize the new building, with five of the apartments to be reserved for very low-income households in exchange.
Aaron Brumer & Associates is designing the project, which would be separated from the existing building by a small landscaped courtyard.
Hosseini went before the Planning Commission earlier this year to secure approvals for a larger mixed-use project along Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills.
