CityPads is doubling down on plans for new apartments near the I-10 Freeway in Mid-City.

An application filed recently with the Planning Department indicates that CityPads is looking to build new housing at 8939 W. Kramerwood Place. The project, slated to replace four existing homes, calls for the new construction of a seven-story building containing 144 apartments above a 39-car garage.

Plans call a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings, including 24 units to be set aside for rent as affordable housing. The on-site affordable housing makes the project eligible for streamlined approvals and development bonuses using the citywide housing incentive program.

The Albert Group Architects is designing the podium-type building, which would include a rooftop amenity deck.

Plans were also filed recently to develop an affordable housing complex on a church-owned property at 2908 S. Robertson Place. That project would be a larger 162-unit apartment complex.

The Kramerwood site is located one block from a property at 8931 Helms Place where CityPads secured approvals last year to build a similar 72-unit apartment building. Outside of Los Angeles, CityPads has approvals to build a 132-unit apartment complex on a site near the North/Clyborn CTA Station in Chicago.
