Developer Thomas Safran & Associates has officially filed plans with the City of Los Angeles to construct an affordable housing complex at the site of a shuttered Westside animal shelter.
The proposed development, slated for a property at 11950 W. Missouri Avenue in West Los Angeles, would consist of a low-rise structure featuring 74 apartments - including 73 low-income units and a manager's unit.
When presented last year to the West L.A. Sawtelle Neighborhood Council, the project was depicted as a contemporary six-story edifice designed by Withee Malcolm Architects. At the time, TSA had proposed 81 apartments within the building.
The case filing indicates that the project will make use of incentives offered by the City's new Transit Oriented Communities program, which allows relief from certain zoning provisions to developments that include affordable housing.
