A new multifamily residential development is rising just south of Vernon Avenue in Vermont Square.
The project from Haroni Investments, a local development firm responsible for numerous projects in the South Los Angeles area, is rising from a corner lot located at 4429 S. Vermont Avenue. The new five-story building will feature 34 one-bedroom apartments above parking for 18 vehicles when completed.
Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives to permit a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, four of the new apartments are to be set aside for rent as affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.
John Kaliski Architects, which frequently works with Haroni Investments, is designing the contemporary podium-type apartment complex.
Other recent Haroni projects include a mixed-use project near the K Line in Hyde Park and an 88-unit development on Western Avenue.
