A fourplex near the intersection of Normandie Avenue and Carson Street in Harbor Gateway is set for redeveloping with affordable housing, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposed project from prolific Executive Directive 1 developer HVN Development, which would rise from a corner lot at 1300 W. 218th Street, calls for the construction of a three-story building featuring 52 one-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.
As with other HVN projects, the proposed apartment complex would provide a mix of low- and moderate-income apartments, making it eligible for citywide housing incentives.
Stockton Architects, which works on all of HVN Development's projects, is designing the project. Plans show a building with the company's standard blue and white stucco.
The project is located just west of the Harbor - UCLA Medical Center campus, which is in the midst of a $1.8 billion expansion. A larger affordable housing complex from Meta Housing is being built to the east of the hospital campus in unincorporated West Carson.
