One year after starting construction on the east side of Downtown Long Beach, wood framing has reached its peak for a new affordable housing complex from Mercy Housing California.
Located at 300 Alamitos Avenue, the new five-story building is being developed as a joint venture with CTY Housing. Plans call for 82 one-bedroom apartments reserved for low-income and homeless seniors.
Renderings of the finished product depict it with a contemporary white and green exterior.
At the time of its groundbreaking, completion of 300 Alamitos was anticipated in Summer 2026.
The project site was purchased by Mercy Housing using $5 million provided by the Long Beach Community Investment Company. Previously, the property was considered for a seven-story market-rate development with 77 residential units was proposed for the property.
Other recent Mercy Housing projects in Long Beach include a similar senior housing complex at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
