A trio of small commercial buildings in the unincorporated community of Del Aire is destined for the wrecking ball, and a new hotel is slated to rise in their place.

According to building permits on file with Los Angeles County, an entity known as Williams Ashley, Inc. hopes to construct a six-story, 128-room hotel on an approximately .45-acre site at the northeast corner of Aviation Boulevard and 118th Place.

Additional details about the proposed development are not immediately clear.

The project site is located just three blocks south of Metro's Aviation/LAX Station, the longtime connection between Los Angeles International Airport and the Green Line.  The elevated stop beneath the 105 Freeway is currently closed for construction, as Metro ties it into the new Crenshaw/LAX Line, which will route trains north to a connection with the new LAX Automated People Mover.

The proposed hotel would be the second major development in the past three years near the station site, following a 264-unit apartment complex that was recently completed next door.  Also planned across Aviation Boulevard in El Segundo city limits is a 500,000-square-foot office campus that would repurpose a former Northrop Grumman facility.
