Two blocks south of Slauson Avenue in Hyde Park, a collection of small residential buildings have made way for the construction of a new apartment complex.

The project, located at 5909 S. Crenshaw Boulevard, received entitlements from Los Angeles planning officials in 2021, and was later issued building permits in mid-2025. Plans call for the construction of a five-story building containing 65 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.

Project approvals include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, permitting a larger building than otherwise allowed due to proximity to the nearby Hyde Park Metro station. In exchange, ten of the new apartments are to be set aside for rent by very low- and extremely low-income households.

The Code Solution designed the concept presented to the Crenshaw Corridor Design Review Board in 2019. At that time, the project was portrayed in renderings as a contemporary podium-type building with a rooftop amenity deck and a central courtyard.

While the initial project applicant was ABY Holdings, LLC, records indicate that the land sold in 2022 to Transworld Properties, LLC.

The project is one of at least a half-dozen similar multifamily residential buildings to rise on the blocks surrounding Hyde Park Station in recent years.
