Construction is in the home stretch for a new affordable housing complex in Harvard Heights, according to a social media post from G.B. Construction, Inc.
Steps on St. Andrews, which is being developed by Holos Communities at 1808 S. St. Andrews Place, transformed former craftsman home into eight apartments, while also adding a three-story, 12-unit apartment building at the rear of the property. The design retains the front yard and porch of the original home, maintaining the site's historic view from the street. Original materials from the house, including its hardwood floors, shelving, and door knobs, were to be reused in the project.
The finished product will include 19 units of permanent supportive housing reserved for veterans.
LOHA is designing the project, while The People Concern will provide services for residents. Funding for the development comes from National Equity Fund, Banner Bank, and the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
Holos Communities is in planning or construction for at least a half-dozen projects within Los Angeles County.
