After nearly five years of quiet, plans for senior housing on the parking lot of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Pasadena are back before the Pasadena Design Commission.
The project from Belmont Village, planned at 80 S. Oakland Avenue, calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring 145 studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings, as well as amenities and a 133-car garage for the project and adjacent church. That represents an increase in density from the 131 homes originally proposed for the site.
The larger scale also comes with a new architect. Steinberg Hart is designing the revised project, replacing the original work by the firm then known as GGA.
A staff report recommends conditional approval of the updated design.
Belmont Village, based out of Houston, Texas, is also behind plans for a second senior housing complex that would replace another church parking lot in Westwood.
