The slow trickle of eye candy continues for the sprawling OC Vibe development in Anaheim.
Late last month, the backers of the $5-billion project revealed fresh renderings of the roughly 20 acres of open space planned for the project, which is replacing parking lots and commercial buildings next to the Honda Center and ARTIC transit hub. Included in that total is three miles of trails, as well as an outdoor art gallery, multiple plazas, and new parks.
Some of the primary open spaces will include Meadow Park, a space inspired by the nearby Santa Ana River with native plants, as well as Neighborhood Park, which is located within the residential district of the project, and is geared toward families. Plans also call for South Plaza, located at the center of the development, which will cater to visitors to OC Vibe's concert hall and the Honda Center, as well as a new "Urban Park," inspired by the agricultural history of Orange County.
The first public plaza will open in early 2027, alongside Katella Commons, the district's chef-driven market hall, along with Concert Hall, a 5,000-capacity live entertainment venue. This will be followed by The Weave, the development's mass-timber office building.
A full buildout of OC Vibe, which is being developed by the Samueli family, calls for a total of 1,500 homes, two hotels, and up to 1.1 million square feet of offices across 100 acres of land.
The initial phases of the project are set to open in 2027. They include the project's first public plaza, a market hall dubed Katella Commons, the 5,000-seat concert hall, and a mass-timber office building known as The Weave.
